After Birth
After birth, a special phase of coming together begins. During the postnatal period, we visit you at home and support you with breastfeeding, life with a newborn, and adjusting to your new family situation.
We also continue to support you with courses, counseling, and lectures, such as postnatal recovery or baby massage.
Coming together in the postpartum period
The postpartum period covers the first eight weeks after birth. The first days after delivery are a particularly sensitive time. During this emotionally intense phase, we support the new family with daily home visits; if needed, we also come twice a day. After some time, the intervals between our visits become longer, and further care is tailored to your individual needs.
In addition to the medical care of you and your baby, supporting breastfeeding is especially important to us. We are also there for you with any questions that may arise in this new phase of life—whether it concerns caring for your newborn, adjusting to your new family situation, or managing everyday life.
Good to know: even if you choose to give birth in a hospital, we will care for you after the birth
Newborn Jaundice
Yellowing of the skin in newborns – we offer accessible check-ups.
Many babies develop a slightly yellowish skin tone in the first days after birth. This is usually completely normal and is called newborn jaundice. In most cases, it is harmless and resolves on its own.
To make sure that no treatment is necessary, we can check the so-called bilirubin level using a special measuring device. This device—also known as a “Bili scanner”—measures the level easily and without any needle prick, directly through the skin.
We can offer this quick check-up at the Birth Centre so that you can avoid unnecessary waiting times at the hospital. If the measurement shows an abnormal value, we recommend a visit to the children´s hospital.
Please feel free to contact us if you are unsure or would like to have the jaundice level of your baby checked.
Breastfeeding Consultation
Throughout the entire breastfeeding period, your midwife is there to advise and support you. Whether you have questions about breastfeeding issues such as blocked ducts or mastitis, or simply want more reassurance, you can always turn to us. We are also there for you when you start introducing complementary foods or if there are any difficulties with eating and drinking.
Osteopathy after Birth
In most cases, pregnancy-related discomfort disappears on its own in the first days and weeks after birth. Sometimes, however, pain can persist. In these cases, osteopathic treatment can help realign your body—especially your pelvis—and thereby relieve the discomfort.
Emotional First Aid after Birth
Birth, the postpartum period, and early parenthood are very special phases in family life. During this time, many people experience an emotional roller coaster—from harmony and happiness to stress and exhaustion. From the very beginning, we support you in building a strong bond with your child, one that can serve as a safe haven even during more turbulent times. This can be especially helpful if the birth was unexpectedly difficult, the postpartum period puts strain on your relationship, your baby cries excessively, or everyday life becomes overwhelming.
Pelvic Floor Training
Pelvic floor training not only helps the remission of the pelvic muscles, but also strengthens your abdominal muscles and lower back. For persistent discomfort after birth (6–8 weeks), we offer guidance and, if desired, targeted training.
Through an additional pelvic floor palpation (as part of a vaginal examination), the muscle tone, any injuries, and the contraction ability of the pelvic floor can be assessed. This allows for individualized instruction in contractions, as well as discussion of further training and any necessary measures.
Pelvic floor assessment can also be useful during pregnancy if there are complaints, and it can help monitor progress over time.
Taping after Birth
Kinesio taping, or simply taping, is a holistic and gentle therapy method that can help relieve discomfort during pregnancy and after birth. The soft cotton tape stimulates the body’s natural healing processes through specific application techniques. It provides effective support for pain relief, improving muscle function, enhancing circulation, and supporting joint function.
After birth, taping can help with: lochial congestion, postpartum recovery, diastasis recti, blocked milk ducts, mastitis, and healing of a cesarean section scar.
